A candidate must have four year bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology and physics subjects. Then, they have to go to the medical college to obtain four years medical degree in M.D or D.O. And for this, dermatologists have to qualify the USMLE exam (in three steps). Further, they have to qualify the Board Certification test conducted by the American Board of Dermatology.

Two types of Dermatology have been found yet and these are dermasurgery and cosmetic dermatology. Usually dermatologists practice both types of branches, but they may focus on only one to gain expertise in a particular field. But, dermatologists may select to specialize in pediatrics or geriatrics, or they can chose with specific disorders, like cancer and other infectious skin disease.
